Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Are you digital?
A. Yes, of course. Colour images
can be manipulated more easily into black and white, partial colour & black
and white or sepia.
Q. What happens if
you are sick on our wedding day?
A. Firstly, in all my years
working as a photographer, I have never called out sick on a wedding.
In the past, when having to choose between visiting my husband in hospital
after an accident or covering a wedding; the wedding came first! That
is not to say that things like this won't happen. Therefore, here are my
solutions. I frequently work with an assistant, who has been trained by
myself for the past 2 years. I would be very confident in sending this
photographer along to cover your wedding if the needed arises. Another
option is that I am a member of the SWPP, which lists professional wedding
photographers all over the nation. It would have to be pretty serious
for this to happen.
Q. Will the images
be on the web?
A. Yes. All the
images are hosted on my website and the guests are able to buy them
independently of yourselves. The images are priced at £10 for 5x7 Inch; £15
for 9x6 Inch and £20 for 8x10 Inch.
Q. Will I be
able to buy the images on a CD?
A. Yes. £200 is the cost of a CD
(as an add-on to your wedding package) or £595 for coverage up the Wedding
Breakfast and a CD with all the images without an album.
Q. Do you work
with an assistant?
A. Yes, frequently I will have
someone with me, either training or professional as back-up to cover the
wedding from another angle.
Q. How would
you describe your style?
A. I cover a wedding in two
ways. Directly, wherein, you are guided and posed (to a certain extent); and
candidly, wherein the photos are taken without the subject knowing. The
latter is very popular these days and is frequently described as
Reportage in style. I would say that 75% of my weddings are candid and
25% are posed. Although many couples prefer the Reportage style, they
more often than not, love the posed photos. These usually show off the gown,
couple and the venue. After spending thousands of pounds on a wedding,
couples need these posed photos to encompass their wedding day
comprehensively.
Q. Do we
have to have group shots?
A. No, of course not. If you
prefer not to, then that is your choice. However, many parents like this
group shots. Weddings are a time for families to reunite and are sometimes
the only time to get those group photos. Recently, I have chosen to
shoot these photos in a different, more modern style. Taken from above (up a
ladder), the group is more gently and comfortably mingled around the bride
and groom, enhancing the relaxed mood of the day and making this part of the
day less stressful.
Q. How long do
you take for photos?
A. The formal/group photos
take about 30 minutes. Up until the Church, most photos are candid,
apart from a few. As soon as the couples exit the church, the list you
have compiled will be started. The bestman assists with this task. Usually
for 15-20 formal groups, I would take 20 minutes. These are either taken at
the church or venue, whichever is prettier. The romantic/couple
photographs of the bride and groom can take from 10 minutes to 20 minutes,
dependent on the timings, the couple and the venue.
Q. After the
wedding, when do we get our proofs?
When do you want them? Are you
going on honeymoon? I will wait until you are back before posting on the
website so you are the first to view them. I do not provide proof
albums as most people have access to the internet.
Q. How do I
book you?
A. You can either call me
to book a session wherein, we can go over albums, styles and questions.
I will then give you forms to fill in and request a deposit of £100 to hold
your day. Or, you can book me over the phone and I can email the
forms.
