Farbridge – a light Barn Wedding in West Sussex – Wedding Photographer

Farbridge Barns

As a wedding photographer, we have our favourite venues.  One may have a light and airy feel or an open and light ceremony room. Another may have lots of space outside with a south facing area, that keeps the guests warm.  As a photographer, the most important thing we worry about is light.  If the venue is dark and closed, it is hard to get clear, focused images.  Certain venues which are licensed over the Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex counties are troublesome.  Without windows, or if the couple are facing a wall, a photographer may have to use flash during a ceremony. This is not idea.  Bouncing light of a ceiling is fine, but usually, shots without flash are better; they have a more natural feel.  Besides, who wants to be “flashing” constantly during a ceremony. This is the time a couple need to focus on getting each other’s names right (this is the most common problem, strangely during ceremonies).  In the stress of the situation, many couples call each other by the wrong name or do not pronounce their partner’s name correctly.

Anyway, Farbridge has light. It has a beautiful barn which has side windows and back windows, which light the couple perfectly. There is a courtyard which faces the sun and gives the guests afternoon sunshine.  The front of the building is flooded by light, which is usually coming around during the Wedding Reception.  Always look for a light and airy room with plenty of windows. Stand where you will be standing and see how much light is upon your face. Look for light in the various rooms. What if it rains; will you be holed up in a dreary library; see if they have an Orangery … there are lots of alternatives.

Here are some shots and a gallery of my favourite shots at Farbridge; these are Summer and Winter shots.   There are lots of galleries here of my wedding photography across Hampshire, Sussex and West Sussex. Let me know if you would like to view one and I will send you authorisation.
